OUTLAST COLLECTION:
WHAT IS OUTLAST:
We often see how technology, that was developed for highly specialized or extreme usage, starts to get used in everyday life. That is what happened with Outlast® technology, originally developed for NASA to use in space gloves that would protect astronauts against extreme temperature fluctuations. Outlast® technology that utilizes phase change materials (PCM) that absorb, store and release heat for optimal thermal comfort, was designated a Certified Space Technology™ by the Space Foundation, a national non-profit dedicated to promoting space endeavors. As the developer of Outlast® technology, Outlast received this prestigious seal of approval for the way in which its space technology enhances the lives of consumers.
Outlast has continued to develop and test phase change materials and applications to make this Certified Space Technology™ available to more consumers around the world. Currently Outlast holds more than 96 patents with 59 pending. Over 300 brands in different countries use Outlast® phase change materials in their products.
OUTLAST TEcHNOLOGy:
Every product of Adaptive Comfort® contains patented Outlast® Thermocules®. Outlast® phase change materials are microencapsulated to be permanently enclosed and protected in a polymer shell. We call microencapsulated phase change materials Thermocules™. This encapsulation process makes the Thermocules™ exceptionally durable for many applications. These Thermocules™ can be incorporated into fabrics and fibers and have the capacity to absorb, store and release excess heat. This gives any product containing Outlast® technology the ability to continually regulate skin’s microclimate. As the skin gets hot, the heat is absorbed, and as it cools, that heat is released. Outlast® technology also manages moisture by reacting to your sweat and pulling it away from the skin. It will proactively manage heat while controlling the production of moisture before it begins.
HOW DOESOUTLAST TEcHNOLOGy WORK:
Outlast® technology is proactive, using phase change materials (PCM) to absorb excess heat from your skin when you are warm, and releasing that heat back to you when you need it most. For example, ice is also considered a phase change material and as the ice in your drink changes from solid to liquid, it absorbs heat and cools the drink. The phase change materials in Outlast® technology work in the same way.
WHEN DOES IT WORK BEST:
Outlast® materials are most effective when they are worn closest to the skin. To enhance maximal effect of Outlast® technology we can easily use Outlast® fibers with other quality fibers and procedures.
LIFESPAN:
When Outlast® technology is designed to be part of a fiber, it is a permanent part through the life of the garment.
HOW ISOUTLAST TEcHNOLOGy DIFFERENT FROM OTHER HEAT AND MOISTURE management TECHNOLOGIES:
Outlast® technology is proactive rather than reactive. Many products claim to regulate temperature, but they actually manage moisture created by the skin. And by the time they start working, you’ve already experienced discomfort from overheating and perspiring. Outlast® phase change materials proactively absorb and store heat to manage heat thus managing moisture and reducing it.
